Huge hoop earrings were the daring fashion statement during the 70’s and early 80’s. The 80's had a truly unique and distinctive lifestyle that transcends into mainstream popular culture today, thanks to hip hop and rap artists like Queen Latifah. Popularized by musicians, huge gold hoop earrings were often clip on earrings as they were too heavy to wear as pierced earrings.
